Lakeland Dive Groupe

Next Meeting May 2nd @ 7:30pm
Please join Lakeland Divers for an exciting presentation by 3 of our current Dive Master candidates on a trio of interesting Wreck sites
off of the Jersey coast.
Greg Harvey will be presenting an indepth look at the steamer Delaware,
sunk in 75' of water just 2 miles south of the Manasquan inlet.
Delaware
The Delaware sank at the height of the Spanish-American War, There is an interesting amount of this old wooden steamer left, including the triple expansion reciprocating steam engine. A linear array of rather large but low pieces is clearly recognizable as the remains of a ship.
Lee Byrd will be presenting a program on the tanker Stolt Dagali,
sunk in 130' but rises to just 60' below the surface
Stolt Dagali
The wreck of the Stolt is very impressive, even though now greatly deteriorated with a large debris field around the wreck. Visibility is usually good, sometimes good enough to see the top of the wreck from the surface, and the sight of this huge wreck when it first looms into view as you descend the anchor line is extraordinary.
Our third Dive Master candidate, Beth Arancio, will give her presentation on the freighter Arundo which lies at 125'
Arundo
Sunk by a single torpedo, the Arundo lies 17 miles out of Manasquan near the mud hole with a cargo that includes jeeps, big 10-wheeled army trucks, 2 locomotives, and 5000 cases of Canadian beer. Please save the date and join us on
Wednesday, May 2nd, @ 7:30pmCome and join us! Learn about diving the East Coast and around the world.
We have guest speakers, gear demonstrations, and presentations from
divers who have dove around the world. Share your best dive stories and hear
some of ours!! Find a dive buddy and make new friends.
