In January of 1996, Lakeland Divers was sold by Irv Rubin to three of his instructors: Capt. Al Pyatak, Capt. Bob Leach, and Capt. Mike DeCharles. Bob has moved on to other things and since the change of ownership, Lakeland has expanded their inventory and the variety of merchandise they carry. Lakeland now stocks full lines of gear from such companies as U.S. Divers, Oceanic, Sea Quest, DUI, and many others.
Lakeland Divers is affiliated, and in good standing, with the following organizations:
- NAUI - National Association of Underwater Instructors
- PADI - Professional Association of Diving Instructors
- IANTD - International Association of Nitrox and Technical Divers
- EDBA - Eastern Dive Boat Association
- TDI - Technical Divers International
- DAN - Divers
